Situated at the centre of the huge Bay of Palma and dominated by a graceful gothic cathedral, the City of Palma is the commercial and cultural centre of the island of Majorca. City lights
The nightlife here is vibrant, although without the all-night fervour and foam parties that Magaluf is famous for. There is an excellent selection of clubs, restaurants and bars in the El Terreno district and the tree-lined avenues around it. There is also a full programme of concerts, exhibitions, festivals and theatre productions throughout the year. Although Palma does not have is own beach, the nearby beach resorts of Ca’n Pastilla and Cala Major are easily accessible.

Hotels in the city tend to be of a very good standard, with few falling below the 4 star category. In general, the best of the hotels tend to be concentrated on the Paseo Maritimo (seafront) to the west of the centre.
