Salou is one the most vibrant tourist resorts on the Catalan coast, situated on the sun drenched Costa Daurada just an hour’s drive south of Barcelona. The resort merges with the quieter resorts of La Pineda to the east and Cambrils to the west, all of which are blessed with gently shelving sandy beaches and secluded rocky coves. No other resort is quite as easy to get to, and from Reus airport you can be in your hotel room 30 minutes after touch down.
Packed with entertainment
Port Aventura, one of Europe’s most thrilling theme parks, is right alongside the resort and along with the Caribe Aquatic Park can provide days of entertainment for the whole family. Salou also has a wide array of watersports on the main beach. The seafront promenade is set with beautiful landscaped gardens and parks along which holidaymakers can stroll to the restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Only having a few nightclubs the nightlife is quieter than resorts such as Benidorm, but with Barcelona less than an hour away by train a big night out is easy to do.
Shopping and eating
Salou has a good selection of souvenir and fashion shops. Eating out is relatively cheap, with no shortage of restaurants in Salou and its neighbouring resorts. There is plenty of variety, with many places catering for British tourists alongside plenty of good Spanish and seafood restaurants.
