What do the room types mean?
 
Twin/Double Standard
This is a room with either two twin beds or a double bed. If you have a preference then please state this in the request box, however we cannot guarantee the request will be fulfilled. In resort hotels double/twin standard usually means two twin beds. If three adults stay in the room there will either be an extra single bed or a sofabed. If two adults and two children stay in this room type the children may have to share a sofabed.
Double Room
This is a room with one double bed.
Twin Room
This is a room with two single beds.
Triple Room
This room will sleep three people but the beds are not guaranteed to be all single beds. There may a sofabed for the third person
Quad Room
This room will sleep two adults and two children. It is not guaranteed to be larger than a double/twin room.
Family Room
This room will usually accommodate two adults and two or three children and are usually bigger than a double/twin. When the room is fully occupied it may be cramped
Standard Room
This usually applies to USA bookings. The beds are usually two double beds but this cannot be guaranteed.
Single Room
This will accommodate one person only and may be a smaller room than the other rooms in the same property.
Double/Twin for Single Use
This is a room for two people which is bookable for one person
Studio
This is an open plan room with living space, kitchenette (if applicable) and bedroom in the same room. The room could contain either beds or sofa beds.
1 Bedroom Apartment
This will accommodate up to 3/4 people a separate bedroom and a sofa bed in the living area.
2 Bedroom Apartment
Two separate bedrooms to accommodate between four and six people.
Superior Rooms
If a property offers a superior room this will be better quality than their standard rooms. The content will differ from property to property but will usually have better décor and facilities, and will usually be larger.

You may be offered different variations of room type i.e. - the same property offers:
  • 1 bedroom apartment (standard)
  • 1 bed apt 1/2 PAX
  • 1 bed apt 2/3 PAX
  • 1 bed apt 3/4 PAX
The rooms will usually be the same size. The word PAX mean is an industry term and means guests. Do not take it as an indication of room size.
 
What do the board types mean?
 
Self catering
No meals are included in the price, the room will have a kitchenette.
Self catering/room only
No meals are included. Please check the hotel details to see if the room will have a kitchenette.
Bed & breakfast
Breakfast is included in the price.
Half board
Breakfast and the evening meal are included.
Full board
Three meals a day are included.
All Inclusive
All meals and drinks are included, and daytime snacks may also be included. Alcoholic drinks may be limited to the house wine / beer / spirits with supplements for specific drinks. Supplements for a la carte dining may also be applied by the hotel.
 
Why does the same room appear more than once with different descriptions and / or different prices?
 
We can have more than one contract running concurrently, and special offers and promotions often appear in conjunction with our usual discounted rates. When this happens simply choose the lowest price available.
 
Are prices final?
 
Yes, all taxes and guests for your whole stay are included in the price displayed. There is no further charge is you are paying by debit card. If you pay by credit card there is a 1% charge for this.
 
Is the hotel available?
 
If a price appears the hotel is available.
 
Are flights included in the price?
 
No. Bestratebeds.com is an accommodation only supplier, the price does not include flights. We do provide flight information as a service to our customers; you will find this on the flight info page.
 
Are you ABTA/ATOL bonded?
 
No, we do not belong to any travel agent associations as we are not a travel agent. We provide an accommodation reservation service and do not sell package holidays or timeshares. Bonding schemes only guarantee a portion of the full booking value should the travel agent go into liquidation and as such do not provide full cover to the consumer. We strongly advise customers to purchase travel insurance. A good travel insurance policy will cover 100% of your booking value as well as a host of other eventualities.
 
I prefer to book by telephone, is that OK?
 
Yes, you can book by telephone and the price will be exactly the same as booking online. However, booking on our website is completely secure – we use SSL encryption technology to ensure your details are kept safe.
 
I booked more than 24 hours ago and have not received my voucher – where is it?
 
You should receive your voucher within 24 hours of booking with us. The most common reasons for a delay are:
  • The voucher has gone into your junk mail folder – please check there.
  • There may be an issue with your payment – if so we will contact you.
  • You may have entered an invalid email address.
If you haven’t received your voucher, please contact us.
 
I have contacted the hotel and they do not have a record of my booking.
 
Passenger names are usually sent to the hotel approximately one week before arrival. However if you quote the Hotelbeds / JT reference number at the bottom of your voucher the hotel will be able to trace your booking. If you have any concerns please contact us.
 
Can I pay by deposit?
 
Yes, provided your booking value is over £100.00 GBP (or equivalent) and the booking is more than five weeks hence, you have the option of paying a 20% deposit which is due four weeks prior to check in. Deposits are non refundable and the balance must be settled by the due date. To pay by deposit, you simply need to check the box on the payment page once you have selected your hotel, the option will only appear if you meet the criteria for a deposit booking. It is of course optional and you are free to pay the full value up front.
 
I paid by deposit and wish to settle my balance. How do I do this?
 
Simply email us at accounts@bestratebeds.com stating that you authorise us to charge your card. Please quote your booking reference number. If you wish to pay the balance with a different card please telephone us. Never put your card details on an email.
 
How can I cancel my booking?
 
You can cancel by either telephoning or emailing us, however if you cancel by telephone we may require confirmation in writing. Please note that cancellation charges will apply, so you should check the terms and conditions for our cancellation policy.
 
How can I modify my booking?
 
You can modify your booking by either telephoning or emailing us and we will do our best to make the changes requested. Please note there is a £20 / €25 /$40 admin fee for each amendment and there may be an increase in the cost of the room.
 
Transfers
 
What kind of vehicle will it be?
 
The vehicle will usually be a taxi (car or minibus) or bus and will be specified when you make the booking. With a shuttle bus transfer you will usually be sharing the transfer with other passengers and stopping off at other hotels or resorts.
 
How do I find the driver at the airport?
 
If you have booked a taxi the driver will be waiting to meet you in the arrivals lounge holding a sign with the lead passenger’s name. If you have booked a shuttle bus you will find the bus outside the airport. Information will be provided on your transfer voucher so please make sure you have read it before you arrive at the airport.
 
Where’s the driver – help!
 
Check your voucher, it may stipulate a meeting point to find your transfer. If the driver isn’t where he / she is supposed to be then call the emergency number provided on your transfer voucher, this is the telephone number of a local office near your destination and they will be able to help you quickly and efficiently.
 
What happens if my flight is delayed?
 
If you know in advance that there will be a delay then you should inform the transfer company on the number provided in the ‘Transfer Information’ section of your booking voucher however the driver has your flight number and will check the arrival time.
 
Are infants and children free?
 
In most destinations infants and children are not free and all passengers pay the same price. This does depend on the destination so be sure to enter the correct children’s ages in when booking and the price given will reflect the ages of the passengers. In destinations where infants are free they will usually have to sit on an adult’s knee. Please note that for transfers by taxi the price is per vehicle and will not change up to the maximum passenger number.
 
I am disabled. Is this a problem?
 
Not at all. Please make sure you let us know in the special requirements field on the payment page so that we can pass the information onto the transfer company.
 
I have oversized luggage, is that OK?
 
This is fine if your transfer is by shuttle bus. Please state dimensions and weight in the special requirements field. If the transfer is by private taxi your luggage will need to fit into the boot or back seat of a car so please bear this in mind when packing.
 
Can I book a transfer to a private residence?
 
If you are travelling to a private residence please contact us before booking as sometimes transfers of this nature are not feasible.
